Wash Care Instructions
General Instructions for All Fabrics
- Most of our apparel is crafted using traditional hand block printing techniques, which may release some excess dye during the first few washes. This is a hallmark of authentic, artisanal craftsmanship and natural dyeing processes, adding to the unique charm of each piece.
- Wash separately to prevent color transfer.
- Use mild, pH-neutral detergents or liquid soap. Avoid harsh chemicals and bleach.
- Avoid soaking the garment for prolonged periods.
- Always dry in the shade to maintain fabric and print longevity.
Cotton Fabrics
- First Wash: Hand wash in cold water with salt to help lock colors.
- For subsequent washes, use cold or lukewarm water.
- Do not wring or twist. Gently squeeze out excess water.
- Iron on the reverse side at a medium setting.
Silk Fabrics
- Dry clean is recommended for best results.
- If washing at home, use cold water and mild detergent specifically for silks.
- Do not rub or scrub; gently agitate in the water.
- Roll the garment in a towel to remove excess moisture and air dry flat.
- Iron on a low setting with a pressing cloth.
Linen Fabrics
- Wash in lukewarm water by hand or on a gentle machine cycle.
- Avoid tumble drying; line dry to prevent shrinkage.
- Iron on the reverse side while the fabric is slightly damp for best results.
Specific Notes for Printing Techniques
- Ajrakh, Bagru, Kalamkari, & Dabu: These natural dye-based prints may fade slightly over time, enhancing their unique charm. Avoid direct sunlight during drying.
- Bandhini, Leheriya, & Shibhori: These tie-dye prints may release excess dye during the first few washes. Always wash separately.
- Batik & Gamthi: Wax-resist prints may have a slightly waxy texture initially, which will soften with each wash.
- Digital, Solid, and Bohemian Prints: These are more stable but should still be washed with care to preserve vibrancy.
Additional Tips:
- Store the garments in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
- For garments with delicate embroidery or embellishments, turn inside out before washing and ironing.
- Avoid using dryers for silk and linen to prevent damage or shrinkage.
By embracing the natural dye release from hand block printed fabrics, you’re cherishing the individuality of each piece while supporting the artisans who craft them. Over time, these garments develop a soft, lived-in
beauty that makes them truly unique!
